One afternoon a sudden thunderstorm drenched the area, keeping me inside the RV. Rather than be disappointed, I pivoted: I pulled out my board games, journals, and sketch pads. I baked brownies in my small camp oven, brewed coffee, chatted with neighbors who’d sheltered in.

Later the storm passed. I donned rain gear, walked in puddles to the pier, and let the fresh scent of rain mingle with salt air. I cooked a stew in a Dutch oven over a covered fire pit and sipped hot tea under an awning.

It was a reminder that even when plans derail, the magic of a good attitude (and a flexible spirit) can turn a rainy day into something memorable.
