One day I packed a picnic lunch and drove to a nearby nature preserve or island trail (depending on local maps). I hiked marsh edges, observed wildlife, and found a quiet cove to beach my picnic blanket.
Lunch: turkey and cheese wraps, pickles, chips, grapes, and homemade lemon bars (baked before the trip or at camp). With the bay breeze, the meal felt like a scene from a novel.
Afterwards I paddled in shallow water near mangroves, looked for crabs and small fish, then returned to camp for a nap. In evening I grilled steaks (or portobello mushrooms) and roasted sweet potatoes in foil. A perfect day of motion, nature, and rest.
